The staff is ALWAYS very rude. I went in there tonight and was not acknowledged for at least 20 minutes and then when I asked for someone to go check on my to go order, the host got an attitude. I left without my food and will never be going back. I’m sure the issue won’t be resolved. This is an ongoing issue.

The worse sushi I ever had .We spent big money it was a disaster by sushi hibachi was great don't prefer sushi unportioned a whole raw filet on a very small amount of rice seaweed unchewable gross me out. I told the waitress it didn't matter we paid and won't ever return.

I went there saturday never again will i go. The waitress is rude as hell, the staff is rude and they were very unprofessional (the waiter and front desk was arguing right in front of us like we wasn't even there) and they double swiped our cards leaving us with either 2x or 3x the amount and then you have to wait 2 -3 business day to dispute. I will never send my family or friends there ever again. I was highly disappointed. The waiter over talks you and is very combative when you telling her what you want to order she tells you what she thinks you should order. Honey it took everything in me not to get up and go to jail saturday messing with this place and their people.

I was at your restaurant on Sept 13th. This is the only place I have been in the last month where my credit card was out of my sight. Today, someone tried to use my CC number to purchase items. My server was new, or I have never seen him before. Thought you would want to know.

Our first visit was good so we decided to come back. Unfortunately, this time the service was not that great and the waitress forgot our soup and salad. The worst part of all was our family having a stomach ache that night and so far all the next day. Something was not fresh and now we get to deal with the consequences.

The worst service I have ever experienced. Waitress could not get our order correct, we were overcharged, manager was rude and unprofessional. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone. If you go make sure the waitress hears exactly what you ordered, otherwise your experience will be very negative.

I visited your restaurant for the first time on June 22. Our receipt says we left at 3:18. My friends and I had the most wonderful time. One of the ladies in our party is deaf and has not been very cheerful for awhile. The Hibachi Chef that prepared our meal made her feel like the most wonderful person in the world. We are a group of 6 ladies who worship together at church. One of the ladies suggested that we come to Akita as a way of cheering our friend up. Our experience surpassed any expectation that I could have had. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. His son is studying at UTD, if that helps. Please, commend him. I called the day before and ask for a reservation for 8 the following evening and was told no reservation was needed. I still gave a heads up with the time and number in the party. Upon our arrival we were greeted by very inexperienced order taking. Followed by a man who never spoke or smiled. He wore a bandage on his face. His manner of leaving the trash bowl in front of the guests and cleaning the grill in a manner that was not appetizing left much to be desired. He did not display the cool knife tricks but rather tapped his way around the grill. At one point he pulled out a rubber doll and urinated on the food. Nothing this man did left us with a good feeling. The final blow was when the man carrying the to go boxes began asking if we were ready to leave. The third time he ask us I finally told him he was rushing us as we had just gotten our food. Our arrival time was 6:45 and there was both other guests still eating as well as empty tables. Our son in the Army was home on leave for only three days so his brothers drove from out of town to see him and truthfully if it were not for the happy conversation they had in the parking lot the whole night would have been a horrible mistake. I would say this by private email but found no place to do that. This is not our first trip and the other times we were there were very nice. I do not think we will be back.

I come to Akita a lot. They have delicious food but my service is always mediocre. Today it is exceptionally poor. We sat ourselves as we were directed in the sushi area, walking past two employees chatting at the door. However we were left waiting for an incredible amount of time considering how empty the restaurant is. While our drinks were promptly delivered, we found ourselves looking around longingly for our food only to find it sitting on the bar waiting for our waiter to deliver it to us. I cannot get over how poor our service was despite how totally empty the place is! It has been a long time since I've been so displeased that I tip under 20.

Great place but has the worst server I have ever had..Brandon is his name.I come here a lot, with my family, date night or just with friends and today was the worst ever! It's 6:20pm. I'm sitting in the bar area and our waiter Brandon was polite enough but didn't pay attention, didn't care about us not having drinks. I ordered a glass of wine and it took 5 min to get the first glass and when I ordered the second out sushi had just came out. When I finished eating, it still wasn't out. I told Brandon not to worry and he said oops wow. He didn't even apologize. He brought us our check but before we left I saw him give the glass that sat the bar for 15 min to lady sitting at the bar. For free!!! Wow! Awful!!! I'm loyal to the places I love but it takes one bad time to not come back. I will go somewhere else next time!

I hate the waitress, Ryan- he is hard of hearing or something- we have to speak loud for him to hear us. Kept using waiting and waiting… for refills or to re-order and waiting on our food. And when our food came out- it was cold… I demanded a new order, but the waitress said “the plate is still warm!” I took a bite into the meat and it was cold and hard as rock. Yuck! I had everyone at my table try it and everyone agreed with me. When our waitress as busy, and another waitress came by- we would ask for their help and they would say, “oh I only bring food, I don’t do that!” For real- you got to be kidding me. At this time, we were fed up and wanted our bill and left. I’m never going here ever again. Bottom line: “Customer service goes a long way and it shouldn’t matter how many people is sitting at the table that you are serving. Each customer deserve the same service no matter what.” But for now, go f*** yourself, because I hate this place.

My family and I have ate at this resturant a few times and the food is pretty good. Last night we went for a birthday. After we finished eating the waitress brought the ticket. We paid for the ticket and the waitress kept standing there. She was waiting on her tip. We was going to leave her a tip, but to stand there. You don't do that. So we got up and left. She followed us outside for her tip. "WOW" what kind of business is this? Customer's leave a tip as a courtesy. But to follow the customers outside for your tip, you don't do that. That alone makes me not want to go back in there.

After reading these reviews I almost didn't go but showed up with a party of 10 for the hibachi meals. Service was pretty good with apologies it wasn't better (they were busy). The people were nice, friendly and helpful. The food was very good for what you would expect from this type of place. The entertainment - well, not bad but typical. Overall a very good experience. Don't let these reviews scare you away.

My family and I love hibachi and have eaten it many times. We decided to try your restaurant Dec. 31st, 2011 for the first time. We were charged holiday price which as far as I know Dec. 31st has never been considered a holiday. We brought my son's girlfriend, who has never been to a hibachi restaurant and we were very excited to introduce her to this. The show was the worse we have ever had!!! The only thing the cook said was "egg roll", he didnt interact with us, he might as well have cooked the food in the kitchen and brought it out it was so boring. I asked him to do the onion volcano and his response was "I forgot." You forgot and I just spent over $100 on our meal. The food was good but the price includes a show and we didn't get that at all. He also boxed up some of our food that he cooked and took it to the front counter which we never got. Very disappointing lunch!!!!

We went there tonight had a 5:30 reservation for a party of 10. We have been here multiple times in the past. They crammed us all on one side of the hibachi and the chef had zero showmanship skills. When you go to any of the hibachi resteraunts the show is very similar they all spin their knives (not him he tapped on the grill (but hey my 1 yr old niece can do that too), toss balls of rice in the mouths of willing participants (not this guy), tossing uncooked eggs in the air and catching on spatula and crack it (not this guy) tossing eggs in his chef hat (nope) he did spin the egg on the grill with his hand but hey I can do that, the food was good but part of the allure of hibachi is the show and tonight was VERY disappointing. Called and spoke to the Sam the manager and he basically said Oh Well some chefs dont when we are busy. When we arrived only one other hibachi was being served. When our food was being prepared only 1 other table was going. considering they have more than 4 tables 2 should not be considered busy. There was no wait even when we left. for the automatic 18 tip for parties over 6 there should have been a show. Seriously considering going to Arlington and Dallas next time. :( This has gone down hill very sad.

The food is pretty good. The servers are rude and they all rush you to order. Not only that, but the manager is VERY RUDE. I came up for diner one night and he was yelling at one of the hostesses. As a manager at a near by restaurant, I don't believe in yelling at my employees. I think the food is good but it's overpriced. They messed up my order and refused to give me a refund or even fix their mistake. But overall it was an okay experience. They need to improve on their communication skills as well as other things.

First I will say that this is the best sushi in Cedar Hill/Duncanville area. My husband and I love coming here as often as we can. We even have a favorite server when we sit in the bar area. Now for the bad news: We came in last night with another couple, their 7 year old and their infant. We decided to try the Hibachi side. Our waitress forgot our drinks from the bar until we said something, which is when the food was being prepared (a good 20 minutes after we ordered them), she sat my cold sake decanter and my chop sticks on the hot grill. Not the end of the world but at the end of the meal we received our check and found that there was an 18 gratuity added for a party of six. Really? You're counting infants that don't eat as diners now? I manage another resturant in Cedar Hill, I would be very upset if a member of my staff did this, but it requires a managers approval before gratuity can be added, this means your managment approves of 5 people and an infant as a large party. The service was ridiculously bad and did not deserve an 18 gratuity. Especially for 5 people. Suzushi's food isn't too far different from yours and I know I can get great service and not be forced to pay a 20 dollar gratuity for 5 people when the service doesn't warrent it.

My mother and I are not from Dallas, but we came up here for a doctors appointment. We had our heart set on sushi and we happened to see your restaurant. Lori was our server. She was AMAZING! She recommended the shaggy dog and we were very impressed with her choice. As a fellow server I know that it takes a special kind of person to do this job. She was wonderful and we will be coming back very soon with more people! Tell Lori thank you very much and we appreciated her menu knowledge and pleasant attitude.

This place not only has geat sushi but great hibachi also. My family and our extended family eat there often, at least once a week. I too have also eaten sushi all over the metroplex. The price is less expensive than any place in Dallas or North Dallas for that matter! The Sushi is always fresh and excellent. The servers are almost always super friendly and if you are not happy with something you can either get something else or you wont be charged. It is so nice to have a sishi place not only great but close to home also. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasent, you can either dress up or go casual and still be completely comfortable. Great place to eat!!

Both of my visits have been at lunch and the 1st time my sister and I enjoyed the chef preparing our food and of course the food itself was quite delicious! Today, I met a friend of mine and we decided on the 3 roll sushi special and it was the best sushi I have ever tasted! We chose spicy tuna, spicy salmon and california roll. The price there is good, all those servers are nice. But I personal saw a man (probably the boss or the manager) blame on a server when the server did something really loudy. It made me feel so annoying and the manager did not respect the customer. This is the only bad feeling that I have. Suggestion: If the guy is only the manager, fired him and get a better one.

I've been here with the family 3 times. Hibachi dinner is great. No longer need to drive to north Dallas to those "other" big name Hibachi places. The food is better here, the "show" the chef's put on is far and away better, attentive wait staff and the prices are a bit lower to boot! Will be going back to Akita for many more trips to come.

I came here with 21 of my friends and family and for my 28th birthday and we had an absolute blast! They do not normally take reservations on Friday's but because I had such a large party the manager was nice enough to accommodate my request and took the reservation. The food was excellent and the cooks at the hibachi grill were very entertaining. The only complaint I had was that one of the employees was rude to me when I arrived 30 minutes early. (like I was asked to do) Apparently he thought no one showed up for the reservation and he was making rude and snide comments about me to the hostess; loud enough for me to hear. I didn't let that ruin my night though and I'm glad because everyone else was amazing! I will be going back and I will suggest this place to everyone I know! The steak was tender and juicy and the chicken was to die for! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My family and I have always been a big fan of Benihana's. My children now say Akita is better than Benihana's. The food and service is excellent. The portions per meal and the cost are GREAT!!!! Please don't change anything we love you just the way you are.
